Who is CardiacSite? CardiacSite is a quality program offered by HealthHelp, a decade-long provider of effective benefit management tools for diagnostic imaging, radiation oncology, and interventional cardiology services.
Since 2005, HealthHelp, through its Site programs, has studied and promoted quality-based imaging practices throughout the United States. The CardiacSite Assessment Program certifies interventional cardiology facilities pursuant to national standards and benchmarks that promote quality, safety and business efficiency practices. CardiacSite promotes quality-based practices for cardiac catheterization labs and hybrid suites across the United States and its territories. CardiacSite works together with private payers, hospitals and provider systems to assess the quality of service, personnel and equipment of interventional cardiology facilities to provide quality of care and safety to health plan members nationwide.
Why assess the safety and quality of interventional cardiology services? CardiacSite believes that interventional cardiology is vitally important in the episode of care, and desires to ensure at least a minimum level of quality and safety for its enrollees. Interventional technology is improving rapidly and becoming more complex. In addition to technological changes, the skills and policies of the personnel performing interventional procedures are imperative to maximizing the information gained through these services. It is important to eliminate or correct any poor quality or unsafe patient care. This not only improves patient care, but also allows more funding to provide enrollees with better care. This equates to paying for a minimum standard of imaging and procedural quality and safety for enrollees performed on satisfactory equipment and interpreted by qualified physicians.
CardiacSite promotes the creation of an imaging network that promotes quality, and patient safety through the use of facility ranking. The CardiacSite assessment is administered as an online survey for imaging facilities with on-site and desktop audits to verify compliance. Successful completion of the assessment results in a certified location. Visit our directory to find a certified facility.

Standards and Benchmarking
National standards and benchmarking are established through ongoing partnerships with providers, public policymakers, regulators, academic institutions, other key stakeholders, and through guidance and peer-review from CardiacSite’s Standards Committee.
The assessment consists of four online modules:
On-site and desktop audits ensure the integrity of CardiacSite certification by validating the accuracy of reported information and ensuring standards are carried out in day-to-day clinical practices. Audits are also an opportunity for facilities to receive expert guidance in corrective action (as needed) and continuous improvement in such areas as radiation safety, quality clinical practices, and imaging protocols.
HealthHelp evaluates completed assessments and certifies those meeting CardiacSite quality and safety standards. Facilities that do not initially earn certification have an opportunity to improve and re-apply within 90 days.
Certification requires that imaging providers update and re-submit the online assessment prior to expiration to ensure equipment is functioning properly and the technologists administering the procedures are appropriately certified.

Payers and Networks
Payers or Networks that use the CardiacSite standards and certification process and succeed in having a majority (70%) of their participating facilities meet the requirements qualify for Site Network Certification. An additional level of certification – “with distinction” – awarded when 90% of participating facilities meet the requirements.
