Physician Education

Reducing Imaging Costs through Physician Education

Diagnostic imaging technologies evolve constantly, and effective benefit management requires keeping ordering physicians up to date.

Excell™ is HealthHelp’s on-line, ACCME-accredited clinical education program for nonradiology specialists. The program covers diagnostic imaging technologies, best practices in image ordering, and the benefits and risks of radiology testing.

Excell’s self-guided, on-line education modules contain evidence-based reading material and physician self-assessments. Module topics include general safety, internal medicine, family medicine, and pediatric issues. In addition to familiarizing ordering physicians with best-practice uses of MRI, CT, PET, and other imaging modalities, Excell provides the latest information on associated risks such as false results, reactions to contrast materials, and the carcinogenic effects of ionized radiation.

This program gives payers access to reports on physicians’ course status, completion, and test scores. Physicians may take Excell for informational or plan-qualification purposes only, or they may pay an additional fee to earn CME credit.
